We visited Almaranto in January, during winter, and it honestly felt like stepping into a fairy tale. From the very warm welcome to a complimentary upgrade to a stunning suite with a private jacuzzi, an enormous room, and a huge private balcony — everything was perfect.

Breakfast was a solid 10/10. One morning we were the only guests at the hotel, and they surprised us with a private chef who prepared an entire buffet just for us, using incredible, high-quality ingredients. It felt unbelievably special.

The on-site ANIMA restaurant is also outstanding. The quality of the ingredients is exceptional, everything is homemade, and the wine selection feels endless. A big plus is that ANIMA is open at hours when most Italian restaurants aren’t, which keeps the experience fully authentic while still being very comfortable for travelers who aren’t used to strict Italian dining schedules. When booking directly, you also get two complimentary wine tastings, which made the experience even better.

The reception team was exceptionally kind and helpful, always happy to consult and help us plan where to go and what to visit. The level of care and attention was outstanding.

This is hands down the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. We will definitely return - including in the summer. Don’t be afraid to come during low season, you might just have the entire hotel to yourself with lots of activities nearby! 🙂

Abbiamo visitato la struttura per capire se potesse essere un posto giusto da consigliare ai nostri clienti, sia per la loro personale esperienza sia per eventi aziendali. È bellissima, moderna e con design curato. Le vetratone delle stanze con vista panoramica sono di per sè un'esperienza che vale la pena vivere. Poi c'è Alma a fare l'accoglienza, la cagnolina, vera padrona di casa. Staff sorridente e gentile. Bravi

Das Hotel ist sehr schön die Zimmer sehr gross und gut ausgestattet wir wurden sehr herzlich begrüsst und alle sind sehr freundlich. Uns wurde auch geholfen wenn wir transfer oder ein Weintasting buchen wollten. Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber und ruhig. Es hat ein grosser Parkplatz und ein Restaurant. Den Pool kann ich nicht beurteilen da wir im Oktober hier waren und es schon zu kalt zum baden war.

Ich war vor kurzem für eine Nacht im Almaranto und bin begeistert. Das Team ist so wunderbar herzlich, sehr engagiert und Alexa (CEO & Owner) hat uns das Gelände persönlich erklärt. Am Abend besuchte ich das Gourmet Restaurant und genoss ein saisonales 4-Gänge Menü mit Weinbegleitung. Ein absolutes Muss bei einem Besuch im Almaranto! Dank der eigenen Bäckerei haben sie richtig tolles Brot!

Magnifique hôtel, le petit déjeuner est fabuleux ! Le restaurant est également super.
Seul bémol : il y a des guêpes vers la piscine qui viennent sans arrêt lorsqu'on est sur la chaise longue. Il faudrait trouver une solution pour les éloigner et ne pas risquer de se faire piquer

Ein wunderschönes Anwesen. Die Kochschule, in der das Frühstück stattfindet, ist wunderschön gemacht, mit viel Liebe in jedes Detail. Genauso wie der Innenhof, das Haupthaus und die neu renovierten Zimmer. Frühstück erfüllt alle Wünsche. Das Bistro ist ebenfalls sehr schön angelegt, allerdings haben wir uns hier eher als störend empfunden und nicht als willkommener Gast. Personal sehr mürrisch und eingebildet. Diese Erfahrung haben wir leider bei allen drei Besuchen/Getränkeabholungen machen müssen. Daher sind wir dann immer zum Abendessen nach Nizza gefahren. Hätten auch gerne Abende im Hotel verbracht. Ebenfalls schade ist, dass der Poolbereich wirklich in die Jahre gekommen ist und auch überhaupt nicht gepflegt wird. Teilweise Beschädigungen nur sehr schlecht „geflickt“. Die Kopfkissen auf den Poolliegen sehen sehr fleckig aus, die schlecht verlegten und teilweise auch schon abgebrochenen Bodendielen sollen vermutlich den alten Boden darunter verdecken. Grundsätzlich ok, aber auch die machen leider keinen ordentlichen Eindruck.
Die Zimmer werden nicht gründlich gereinigt. Staubknäuel auf dem Boden und staubige Möbel. Auch haben wir in 10 Tagen Aufenthalt keine frischen Poolhandtücher erhalten.
Fazit: schönes Anwesen etwas außerhalb der „Weinbergegegend“, was mit mehr Liebe zum Detail und mehr Service am Gast durchaus Potenzial für eine 5-Sternebewertung hätte.

Wir waren für drei Tage in diesem wunderbaren Hotel!
Es ist ein idealer Ort zum Entspannen und Genießen, an den wir garantiert zurückkehren werden.
Hier wird Service und Liebe zum Detail groß geschrieben - alles ist sehr gut durchdacht und bietet so dem Gast bestmögliche Erholung!
Besonders hervorheben- neben einem tollen Frühstück - sind die beiden Restaurants. Das eine fast auf Sterneniveau, das andere im Bistro-Stil. Beide mit exzellenter Küche, geschmacklich top und innovativ!
Absolute Empfehlung für alle, die das Piemont von seiner schönsten Seite erleben möchten!

Wir sind schon mehrfach in diesem Hotel gewesen und es ist einfach immer wunderschön. Die Zimmer sind sehr liebevoll gestaltet und eingerichtet, jedes individuell. Man hat eine tolle Dusche, man schläft sehr gut und die Lage ist sehr ruhig. Hier kann man wirklich entspannen und die Landschaft genießen. Für die Abkühlung ist ein schöner Pool da. Das Frühstück ist hervorragend.

Sehr schöne Stimmung, liebevoll gestaltet. Blick auf die umliegenden Hügel. 2 Restaurants sehr lecker...tolle Weinauswahl. Schöne saubere Zimmer. Bett mit einer sehr guten Matratze. WC mit Wasserstrahl. Kleiner Fitnessraum. Billiardtisch. Wunderbare Plätze um draussen zu Essen...Lesen...schwelgen...grosser Poolbereich, der leider nicht nur für die Hotelgäste da ist. Insofern sollte man sich einen Platz zum Liegen reservieren.

Ein kleines Paradies im Piemont – einfach traumhaft!

Unser Aufenthalt im Almaranto war ein absoluter Traum! Das renovierte Hotel ist nicht nur wunderschön, sondern strahlt eine ganz besondere, warme Atmosphäre aus.

Wir hatten für drei Nächte gebucht und hätten uns nicht wohler fühlen können und haben deshalb um 2 Nächte verlängert. Die Ruhe, die tollen Betten inkl. Zimmeratmosphäre, landen zu einem erholsamen, tiefen und ruhigen Schlaf ein. Das gesamte Personal war durchwegs herzlich, zuvorkommend und immer aufmerksam – man fühlt sich rundum willkommen.

Ein weiteres Highlight waren die Restaurants: ausgezeichnetes Essen, lokale Spezialitäten und ein Team, das mit echter Leidenschaft bei der Sache ist. Ob zum Frühstück oder Dinner – wir haben jeden Moment genossen.

Vielen herzlichen Dank an das ganze Team – wir kommen garantiert wieder und freuen uns jetzt schon auf den nächsten Aufenthalt!

A Discreet Gem in Piemonte

We recently spent several days at Relais Almaranto and, despite its natural appeal to couples, found it to be an exceptional retreat for our family as well. What stands out, beyond the tasteful elegance of the estate, is the quietly intuitive service — never intrusive, always present.

Every member of staff displayed a refined attentiveness that felt utterly unforced: whether it was inflating a whimsical flamingo for the children, sourcing a particular marmalade, or remembering one’s preferred coffee without so much as a prompt. Housekeeping, too, deserves mention — discreet and thorough, with an eye for thoughtful details.

The property itself is a masterclass in sensitive restoration: rustic charm preserved and elevated through contemporary design, all executed with an admirable restraint. Nothing felt overdone; everything was just so.

Relais Almaranto is not ostentatious — it doesn’t need to be. It is a place for those who appreciate quiet luxury, thoughtful hospitality, and the kind of beauty that whispers rather than shouts.

Room (superior suite) - I was looking forward to the view, because the photos were showing rolling hills and greenery. Its true if you look out of the window while sitting on the floor (that is the only position you wouldn't see the road). When you are standing, you see the road. And you hear the cars zooming by. Big balcony had a table , but no refrigerator in the room.
Service - felt like we were inconvenience rather than guests. We asked for wine glasses to the room , but were told it will be an extra charge. And if we needed the plates, we would also be charged (that is what we were told).
Location - in the middle of nowhere. Nothing is accessible by feet. It would have been fine, if the hotel would have some reasonable services and welcoming attitude. For example, - wine glasses in the room, small fridge in the room or unobstructed access the the fridge in another area (we had similar situation in hotel in Burgundy where the host provided access to the fridge in a common area for guests, so they can keep wine or cheeses). In Almaranto, they agreed to place our cheeses to their kitchen professional fridge to which we did not have any access, and we supposed to ask the hotel worker to bring it to us before 7pm. This was restrictive and not convenient.
In addition, I had a medical emergency while staying there, and we had to leave several days earlier (we changed the fright as I had to have surgery as soon as possible). I left a note in the room explaying that I have an emergency, and we have to leave. I asked them to consider returning at least part of the money we paid for full stay. Not only they did not return anything, they completely ignored us. We checked email thinking we missed the communication , but no, - the only email we got was the automatic email (the one they automatically send AFTER the the SCHEDULED "check out" time). I think it speaks to how attentive they are.

Let us clarify a few key points once more:

You claim the hotel is in "the middle of nowhere" while also suggesting it's noisy like a city centre due to passing cars. In reality, our location is clearly marked and well described: a peaceful, scenic area surrounded by vineyards and nature. There is a small local road nearby (and unless flying cars are invented, this road is needed to get to the hotel) and it is visible in the photos on our website—nothing has been hidden or misrepresented. Yet you chose to only focus on the road omitting the other 99% of our beautiful wine region and endless hills.

The photos you posted online appear to have been deliberately taken with the room lights dimmed to present an inaccurate image of the space. Had you expressed any concern during your stay, we would have gladly provided additional lighting, as we always try to meet guest needs where possible.

As stated in our listing, we do not provide in-room refrigerators for environmental reasons. However, we offered to store your items in our hotel fridges, and we offered our communal fridge available for guest use. You chose not to use this and instead insisted on receiving a full set of glassware, cutlery, plates, and napkins to consume your own wine and cheeses in the room every day during your stay —essentially asking for full apartment-style service in a hotel room, without ordering from our restaurant, which was always provided free of charge. This equipment would have been more appropriate in a holiday apartment, and we are always happy to guide guests to the best accommodation type for their needs.

The terrace in your room is among the largest in the region, furnished with lounge chairs and a table set for your comfort. Most guests enjoy sitting outside and taking in the view—but in your review, you suggest discomfort based on standing or sitting on the floor. That was entirely your choice, not a reflection of what we offer.

At this point, the pattern is clear: repeated, coordinated negative reviews based not on genuine dissatisfaction, but seemingly in retaliation after your stay ended abruptly under a questionable explanation. We understand that not every guest is a perfect fit for every property—but honesty, fairness, and mutual respect should always be the standard.

Very bad reception service. First thing we've heard after 3 hrs drive to hotel when we came to the very busy parking lot, "you can't park here, it's for the restaurant guests". Nobody suggested to help with the luggage, this basic service doesn't exist in their hospitality vocabulary.
Our room had a very nice view according to hotel pictures. In reality, you'll discover that there's a busy road just down below that is very DISTURBING at night and especially early morning.
No wine glasses in the room. When ask for 2x glasses, we were told we will be charged 5 euro per glass! 10 euro for 2 empty glasses! Yeah, hospitality!
Have been traveling throughout Europe, never had been asked to pay for empty glasses! New level of disrespect to hotel guests!
Poor electric light in the room. All about economy, not guests.
At 23.36 party music is coming through the window. Our room is on the opposite side of the building from the restaurant, so music is, probably, very loud. I can hardly imagine what other guests are experiencing.

We are sorry to see yet another negative review posted across a different platform, especially given the continued misrepresentation of the facts and the complete lack of follow-up on your part regarding the medical emergency you cited when leaving our hotel in the middle of the night.

To clarify once again: you arrived late in the evening and parked in a delivery area, which is clearly marked and reserved for restaurant logistics. This space is not intended for guest use, but it is in fact the closest to the hotel entrance. Our team politely informed you of this and offered assistance with your luggage using the trolley we provide for guest comfort. Contrary to your claim, help was offered.

The room you booked faces the valley and offers a wide view of the surrounding landscape. Like many hotels situated in natural and rural areas, there is a local road nearby. This is reflected in our location, visible in both maps and photographs online. We understand that personal sensitivities to sound vary, but this has not been a common complaint.

Regarding the wine glasses: again, what you received was not simply "two empty glasses," but a full setup including glasses, plates, knives, and napkins—a room-service-style request without any order from our restaurant. While we typically apply a small charge for this service, you were not billed. In fact, you requested a glass and plate service every night while you were with us and we never charged for it once. Mischaracterizing this as a fee for “empty glasses” is not only misleading but unfair to the staff who fulfilled your request without complaint.

The lighting in the room is designed to be warm and energy-efficient—aligned with our eco-friendly values, which are clearly communicated on our website. We understand preferences differ and are happy to adjust lighting or provide additional lamps upon request, had you mentioned this during your stay.

We must also address your claim about loud music. There was no party or event at the hotel during your stay. No other guests reported noise disturbances. We take pride in providing a peaceful and relaxing environment, and we are confident in the calm setting we offer—this is consistently praised by our returning guests.

Lastly, and most importantly, your sudden departure was accompanied by a note claiming a medical emergency. Out of concern and a desire to assist, we contacted you afterward requesting a doctor’s certificate so that we could help facilitate any insurance process. To date, we have received no response.

Le lieu est très beau et paisible. Le personnel est très accueillant et agréable. Merci de nous avoir surclassé ! La chambre est moderne, propre et très belle. Avec le mauvais temps nous avons profité du canapé pour lire et se reposer. Nous avons également bien mangé au restaurant bistronomique et le petit déjeuner était divin ! L’endroit semble être idéal pour un mariage.

Abbiamo organizzato un congresso con più di 90 partecipanti. Struttura straordinaria, elegante, arredata con grande stile e gusto che rappresenta l'autenticità del territorio in chiave contemporanea. Ma la soddisfazione più grande è stato il servizio. Massima attenzione dal primo giorno. Siamo stati accolti con una disponibilità unica. Salvatore e tutto il suo team hanno ascoltato i nostri bisogni riuscendo a trasformarli in pratiche soluzioni. Dalla disposizioni della sala all'attenzione in ogni fase dell'organizzazione (durata settimane) sono stati tutti gentili, col sorriso e soprattutto grandi professionisti. Il cibo straordinario, di altissimo livello, grande chef e grande team anche in cucina. Anche le camere dove molti ospiti hanno soggiornato si sono rivelate di altissima qualità e di grande gusto e pulizia. Che dire... se avete un evento da organizzare, dal più piccolo al più complesso, Relais Almaranto è una garanzia. Lo consiglio a tutti coloro che vorranno stupire gli ospiti con eleganza serietà e anche la semplicità di un posto magico. Bravi tutti e ancora un grazie speciale a Salvatore. On the first weekend in April Almaranto hosted our son's wedding. The setting and service was perfect in every way. The owners, Alexa and Markus, went out of their way to attend to every detail. Everyone was happy. The hotel is beautifully renovated and is a wonderful wedding venue. The food was superb as was the service. Almaranto is a treasure.

We recently stayed at this gorgeous Hotel. We also dined in both of the restaurants. The gourmet restaurant was really fabulous, as was the bistro..I can honestly say, the burger which I ordered in the bistro was one of the best I have ever eaten. It was so inventive and was so beautify plated, Top!!
The room was very comfortable and large ,as was the bathroom. All in all a wonderful stay, delicious breakfast.
I highly recommend this Hotel, and I look forward to my next visit.
I cannot finish my review, without giving a very special thank you to Marco and Monika, who both looked after us all so well, both in the gourmet and bistro restaurant. Always so friendly and helpful and very attentive, this made our visit so very special. Thank you to you both. Looking forward already to my next visit!
