This hotel was the best part of my trip to Italy. It was very unique experience, like no other hotel I have stayed in. The rooms are very comfortable and beautiful. The service was excellent. Any time we asked for anything, our request was met promptly. The grounds are very lush and castle-like. The breakfast was perfect, had much to choose from. Only had dinner once and it was very good but could use a little more variety. Menu is very small. The restaurant where breakfast is served was not open for dinner the 1 night we were looking to eat in. I would highly recommend this hotel. It is within an hour of any of the wine tours we went on. Need a car though.
Having just returned from this picturesque hotel the review has to be done.|Wonderful, picture perfect sums it's up.|All the staff were absolutely spot on and on point at all times. The food was first class as well. Local and authentic |We were in a scudera room, which was typically decorated, which may seem 'dated' to some people. |It's stylish without being pretentious which is nice as it is expensive to stay.|We had a couple of Tuscan Experiences arranged by the hotel, which were again absolutely brilliant and well done.|All In all, loved it and if you want to treat yourself, definitely go. It's great.
The age, history and beauty of the Relais property is hard to deny. There was a wedding during our stay which was truly very picturesque. That said, the dining experience and rooms do not match what you might expect from a 5-star hotel compared to name brand 5-star experiences. Specifically in the room, the bed's mattress was on the high end of firm and the room frequently needed airing out to mitigate the smell of old furniture/must (the provided scents in the room only muddled the smells). One day of our stay the WI-FI was out and given the lack of cell service we lost the opportunity to do deeper research on our following day's itinerary. For dining, they offer room service however there isn't anywhere to eat given the lack of table space. The food itself was ok and we often opted to leave the property for local options. The staff was friendly and clearly working hard during our stay. All said, if this was promoted as a 4-star resort it would be a more fair categorization and match the experience itself instead of setting a bar that can't currently be achieved.
The le Suvera experience was disappointing. It is not a 5* hotel compared to the standards of hotels usually graded at this level. The situation is quiet which is nice, however, only one restaurant opened during our stay when they advertise two. The food is ok but definitely not brilliant & menu quite restrictive. There was a powercut which I appreciate was not the hotel's fault, however, it was handled very badly with guests having to almost beg the manager to organise for salads or a buffet to be made. The water in the bathroom was filthy so unusable which obviously is not what is expected in a 5* location. The rooms are old & quite charming but could do with a refresh. I get the sense the hotel has a cashflow issue which makes it hard for them to provide the typical standard & service experienced at 5* properties.||||To be transparent, we stayed for 3 nights (having planned to stay for 1 week) but only paid for 2 based on our bad experience on the 3rd with no electricity, no water & no flushing toilet. This caused much exasperation with the hotel management but I genuinely believe this was a fair proposal to the hotel given the bad experience (we obviously paid for all incidentals but requested that 1 night room charge was removed). Staff overall though are friendly but would benefit from more training & refreshed uniforms.||||The Belmond is just 12 km away, same price, beautiful building & a true 5 star experience. This would be my recommendation.
We had an incredible time at the Relais La Suvera. My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights in June, 2018. My favorite things about this place was friendly staff, the majestic building and the gardens. I must say I really didn’t like the room we stayed though. I’m happy to go back, but I’d like to try another room. And I will bring ear plugs so I won't be woken up by swallows early morning.||||The property itself has a gorgeous, special atmosphere. We loved the aperitif hour. They staff made such delicious Negroni for us, and we enjoyed them sitting at the quiet garden looking at the beautiful hills as hundreds of swallows flying around. I will always remember the magical time.||||They have an excellent restaurant in the property, and we had a fantastic dinner. We made a reservation as we checked in. Actually we were the only guests of the restaurant that night, but servers made sure we were comfortable all night. Ambiance was grand, service was formal but friendly and food and drinks were really beautiful and delicious, except my turbot dish.||||Concierges also had great recommendations for local restaurants for other nights. They were happy to pick up a phone and make a reservation for us. Even before we arrived, they helped us to make reservations for a restaurant and wine tasting based on our requests. Since we don’t speak Italian, their help was crucial.||||As for the guest room, we booked “Deluxe Room in the Papal Villa” for 475,00 EUR per night. There’s a sitting room separately from the bedroom. The closet was decent size. The chest was very old and drawers were hard to open. Shower was complicated. The bathtub was leaking from the corner so we had to put a towel.||||The real problem for me of the guest room was that it was extremely noisy. For the 1st night, the alarm went off at another building in the middle of the night. It went on more than half an hour until someone came to stop or investigate. And around 3 am, hundreds of swallows started flying and crying. I was up most of the night on the first day. For the 2nd and 3rd night, because I didn’t have ear plugs with me, I put facial cottons to my ears and I was able to sleep until morning.||||I love this place, but the charm of them was not the guest room.
Very comfortable, spacious and old style Tuscan rooms and hospitality. ||An extremely beautiful building and situation in the heart of Tuscany in a hotel/home that has been the property of the same family for 9 centuries. ||Delicious well prepared local dishes with polite attentive staff. ||The hotel gives one feeling that you are staying in a private home with a welcoming family, but with none of the necessity to make polite conversation and you get what you order.
Precioso lugar, personal encantador.
Realmente maravilloso.
