Andrea is a brilliant photographer and an absolute pleasure to work with. Moreover, his eye for lighting and his ability to capture amazing candid photos is nothing short of magic.

I booked him—in February 2024—for a surprise engagement proposal photo shoot in Rome (at his “Colosseum - more private view“ location), and it was seamless. His instructions (regarding where to go and where to stand) are extremely clear and understandable, even for an American like me who only speaks English and that had yet to visit the city beforehand.

My now-wife and I are pretty awkward, and we didn’t come prepared with a list of poses that we wanted Andrea to capture. But he showed us a couple of suggested poses to try, and once we exhausted all of those, it was all candid shots (with minimum—if any—instruction) from there. And they all came out breathtaking.

Not only that, but he continued to shoot us well beyond our agreed upon time because he noticed the lighting was perfect in two other nearby locations.

Andrea sent along 23 photos less than an hour after the session concluded, and 199 high resolution JPG files (even though we only paid for 60 photos) less than 2 days later (12 days earlier than we agreed upon).

If Google would let me give him 10 stars out of 5, I would without hesitation. He’s unbelievable.

Andrea made sure our photo shoot turned out great. He is extremely knowledgeable about the area and which places will make great photos. We had a 1 hour 30 minute shoot and we felt that no time was wasted, and we got all the photos we could’ve hoped for. He also had some great recommendations for places to pop the question and propose. He helped make the proposal such a magical moment for me and my fiancé.

I couldn’t recommend Andrea more if I had to! I was planning on proposing to my girlfriend in Rome but had no clue where to do it, where to start, what time etc. Andrea’s website was easy to navigate and look at different potential options, and when I reached out to him he was incredibly nice and helpful in finding the perfect place for our proposal.

If you're planning a proposal, especially in Italy, look no further than Andrea Matone! From the very first contact, he was incredibly attentive and supportive. The proposal itself, on a semi-private terrace with a breathtaking view of Piazza Navona in Rome (June 2024), went off without a hitch thanks to his meticulous planning. From start to finish Andrea was amazing. He helped me choose the locations, giving advice on best times, lighting etc and everything he recommended was perfect.

On the day, it was incredibly smooth. My partner didn't suspect anything. The photo shoot at each location was really enjoyable and Andrea has a real eye for detail and getting some amazing pictures.

We also had a 4k video on the day, Nico was nowhere to be seen on the lead up to location. Well prepared with a camera in the tree and again he had a real eye for getting some amazing footage for our special moment.

Overall, Andrea and Nico were everything I could have asked for. Communicative, professional and masters of their trade. The final images and videos were delivered in under 2 weeks and they are stunning.

Andrea was incredibly easy to work with and highly professional. Prior to proposing to my girlfriend, I had never been to Italy (much less Ravello), so the logistics required a lot of back and forth as far as determining how to meet up with each other, how to get the specific spot for the proposal, etc. He was very communicative, helpful, and understanding. Andrea suggested we exchange a photo of ourselves ahead of the shoot, so that when we saw him in person and followed him to the proposal location, it would be seamless and she wouldn't catch on. Thanks largely to Andrea's coordination, the surprise proposal went exactly according to plan and my girlfriend was shocked!

The photoshoot and video process was very relaxing and enjoyable. Andrea has an eye for detail and picked excellent spots at the venue for shooting. He also regularly solicited our input and had us pick a few different poses. As for the results...they speak for themselves. He provided several hundred very high quality in a very timely matter. Additionally, the footage he edited together could not have been done better. The video and a few pictures can be found on Andrea's blog.

We are so grateful to have worked with Andrea. We will be reflecting back on our memories of our trip for the rest of our lives.

Working with Andrea was truly an incredible experience! Andrea captured our epic engagement in Rome in December 2022! We originally booked a “couples photoshoot” with Andrea for our vacation to Rome, Italy. However, I was able to contact Andrea in secret in order to make arrangements for this couples photoshoot to turn into a secret engagement photoshoot. Andrea was very discrete and was able to offer good ideas on secret hand signs/cues for us both to be ready for me to pop the big question. It was incredibly easy to communicate with Andrea to plan the photoshoot, despite a 6-hour time difference between the two of us. His photography skills were nothing short of amazing! He was able to make us completely comfortable during the photoshoot and was very helpful in offering suggestions for different poses to try. Andrea was able to help us decide on the perfect locations throughout Rome for our photos. We signed up for the private transportation with Stefano and Andrea. Stefano would drop us off right at our destination, and be ready to pick us up right at the perfect time to move to the next location. Not only was this transportation option incredibly convenient, but Stefano and Andrea were also able to make amazing food and sightseeing recommendations during the short trips. Our overall experience with Andrea was perfect for our engagement! We are currently thinking about going back to Italy for the wedding, in which case, Andrea will be the first photographer we reach out to again.

Andrea was absolutely amazing. I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Andrea for a surprise proposal photoshoot in Positano. I had planned this proposal for about 2 years ago but was unable to due to the COVID-19 pandemic. From my initial inquiry with Andrea, he was nothing but professional, kind, honest and thorough. That's before even seeing his work, he is a super talented photographer and just an amazing, kind person.

We started by setting up a phone conversation on whatsapp, which was convenient for international calls. From the first phone call, Andrea was super helpful and kind in helping me choose the best time and location for shooting. He was also very honest, as he gave me his professional opinion on the two locations I had considered: Positano and Ravello.

Also, my fiance and I are both vaccinated but required a negative COVID test to gain entry to Italy. Andrea was extremely flexible with the schedule as we had to contend with COVID testing and also the weather. We remained in contact up to the moment before the surprise proposal.

In terms of the actual shoot, Andrea was amazing. He had arrived at the location early and scouted the area to get the best photos. Andrea also did an amazing job at keeping the surprise a surprise. As I walked with my soon to be fiance toward the meeting point next to Spiaggia Grande, we acknowledged each other by rubbing our ears. My soon to be fiance had no idea. Once we had acknowledged each other, Andrea led me to the perfect location. He stopped intermittently to take photos, acting like a tourist, so that my fiance had no idea. Once we arrived at the perfect location on Spiaggia Grande, he again rubbed his ear, signaling that he was ready and I could propose. He captured the initial surprise photograph, which was amazing, then we acknowledged each other and the rest of the photoshoot was absolutely perfect. I've never been one to take photos of myself, so when Andrea had ideas of poses and locations, I was extremely happy.

Also, Andrea brought his most trusted assistant, his 11 year old daughter, Matilde, who was amazing. For her age, she is extremely intelligent and kind. She is a wonderful reflection of Andrea.

I had planned this proposal for a long time and it turned out exactly the way I had envisioned it. And for that, I can never thank Andrea and Matilde enough. He is simply the best and I would strongly recommend him to anyone for any photography needs. Not simply because of his artistic skills, but he is also a genuinely awesome person.

I connected with Andrea during my Rome vacation back in August of this year to help carry out my proposal. I was impressed by his level of professionalism and flexibility when making a final decision. We were so lucky to have Andrea photograph our destination wedding. From the beginning, working with him was a pleasure. He is very professional, responsive, and transaction was hassle free. He showed up to the venue early and immediately engaged with the groom and the guests, seamlessly integrating with the guests and also capturing great moments of our day. His photos were a perfect combination of the setting, the small details (homemade gnocchi!) of our day, the candid moments with guests, and the more traditional poses of our wedding. Andrea has a wonderful way of framing his photos to capture the most of every moment, putting the sun or the light in the right spots around the person, using the archways of a door to anchor the shot, etc. The results were truly amazing and we couldn't be happier!
