Abbiamo trascorso un meraviglioso weekend al Castello di Ugento. Il castello è un luogo unico, elegante e silenzioso, perfetto per staccare completamente e godersi il Salento in un contesto raffinato ma autentico.||Abbiamo dormito nella camera Pelicano, molto spaziosa e curata, con un bagno bellissimo e ampio, rifinito con grande attenzione ai dettagli. La stanza era estremamente silenziosa, ideale per riposare profondamente, e l’atmosfera generale del castello trasmette una sensazione di calma e privacy rara.||Il giardino è splendido: profumato, ben disegnato e molto piacevole da vivere, sia di giorno che la sera. L’unica piccola nota è che il prato era un po’ secco in alcune zone, ma nulla che tolga valore alla bellezza complessiva della proprietà, che è chiaramente molto ben tenuta e curata con amore.||Tra la location storica, la tranquillità, la qualità degli spazi e l’attenzione del personale, il Castello di Ugento è una scelta perfetta per una fuga romantica o un soggiorno speciale in Puglia. Un luogo che resta nel cuore e dove torneremmo volentieri.

The restored vaulted ceilings, stone floors, and antique furniture made the castle hotel feel like living in history — yet with modern comfort. The linen was high quality, toiletries organic, and the Wi-Fi worked flawlessly. In the evenings the courtyard was lit softly and felt magical.|I’m picky about cleanliness — sometimes boutique hotels look nice but feel worn. Not here. Every corner felt immaculate, from the wooden wardrobes (hand-crafted walnut) to the bathroom marble. The housekeeping staff obviously cares. Even public areas — garden, hallways, breakfast room — were spotless.

We celebrated our wedding at this hotel and everything was absolutely perfect. The place was beautiful, the rooms were comfortable and clean, and the atmosphere was warm and elegant.

A special mention goes to the manager, Mrs. Roberta, who was absolutely perfect. She made us feel comfortable from the very beginning and was incredibly kind, attentive, and professional. She was also wonderful with our baby, which meant so much to us and helped us fully enjoy our special day.

Our guests were delighted, and we couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate such an important moment. We highly recommend this hotel!

Abbiamo trascorso la cena della Vigilia di Natale al Castello di Ugento, presso il ristorante Il Tempo Nuovo, ed è stata un’esperienza semplicemente indimenticabile.||La location è di una bellezza straordinaria: il fascino storico del castello, impreziosito dalle luci natalizie, crea un’atmosfera magica, intima e raffinata, perfetta per una serata speciale.||||Il menu di Natale è stato eccezionale, curato nei minimi dettagli e capace di valorizzare al massimo le materie prime del territorio. Ogni piatto era un perfetto equilibrio tra tradizione e creatività, con sapori intensi ma eleganti, presentazioni impeccabili e una cucina di altissimo livello. Un percorso gastronomico che racconta la Puglia con classe e personalità.||||Un plauso speciale va anche allo staff, professionale, attento e sempre sorridente: il servizio è stato impeccabile, discreto ma caloroso, facendoci sentire accolti e coccolati per tutta la serata.||||Una cena di Natale vissuta come una vera esperienza, dove luogo, cucina e ospitalità si fondono in modo armonioso. Assolutamente consigliato a chi cerca eccellenza, atmosfera e autenticità. Torneremo sicuramente.

I first came to Castello di Ugento in 2022 just for dinner at the restaurant, and always thought it would be a great place to stay. I finally did in October 2025 and spent a few days there.
The Castello is calm and full of character, and once you’re inside the walls it really does feel separate from the town around it. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and well kept. The garden, which I already loved from my first visit, is still a highlight — a great place to relax at any time of day.
The staff were friendly and attentive without being over the top, and made everything easy during our stay. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and I’m glad I finally came back to stay, not just for dinner.

I came here with my wife in September 2025 and stayed a few nights at Castello di Ugento.||The property itself is beautiful, full of history and charm, but the real highlight was the garden. Even though some of the grass had dried out and a few plants were still recovering, we were told this was due to a serious technical issue that forced the property to close for much of the summer. You could already see things slowly turning green again, and we kept thinking how stunning it must be when the garden is in full splendor. I wish we could have seen that.||Our room was spacious, elegant, and very comfortable, and everything was kept clean. The staff were incredibly attentive and genuinely kind, doing everything they could to make sure we had a great stay. You could sense they had been through a difficult period, and at times you could see a bit of stress or anxiety on their faces — but that only made us respect them more. They really cared.||We truly enjoyed our days at the Castello and could feel the romance and charm of the place.

Had a wonderful stay! We knew before booking that the castle had reopened only recently (after technical problems earlier in the summer), so we didn’t expect full service. But they proved us wrong. The staff were everywhere, accommodating shuttle requests or beach-taxi at a moment’s notice, and breakfast was generous and varied. We stayed in the Pellicano room, beautiful. The public spaces and courtyard were spotless. Given the circumstances, we were pleasantly surprised by the professionalism and kindness of the team, especially Roberta and her team. 5* Thank you!

Just like other reviewers we had a bad experience with the management at Castello di Ugento. One day before our scheduled arrival, we received an email that due to certain circumstances our reservation was cancelled and were asked if we would consider taking a credit for a future visit. We responded absolsutely not and that we wanted our deposit refunded. We never received any communication from them after that.|We reported this to our credit card company and filed a dispute against Castello di Ugento. Thankfully our credit card company credited back our deposit amount. Shame on the owners/management of this property for deceiving and basically robbing people of their money. Thankfully we found another property at the last minute and although more expensive, it was lovely and the staff was amazing!

Truffa e mancato rimborso – non prenotate!
Avevo prenotato un soggiorno di diversi giorni al Castello di Ugento dopo un lungo viaggio in Puglia. Pochi giorni prima del mio arrivo, ho ricevuto un messaggio che segnalava un “problema elettrico” che impediva all’hotel di ospitarmi. Un’impiegata, Roberta Selvatico, in contatto con Amedeo d’Amore, mi ha proposto di trovare un altro alloggio e di procedere al rimborso.
Alla fine ho trovato un altro hotel per conto mio, poiché le opzioni suggerite erano estremamente costose.
 Ad oggi, non ho ancora ricevuto il rimborso promesso, nonostante diversi solleciti.
Dopo alcune verifiche, sembra che altri viaggiatori abbiano vissuto situazioni simili, il che fa pensare a una pratica ricorrente.
Condivido quindi la mia esperienza per avvisare i futuri ospiti: non prenotate al Castello di Ugento.

We also booked Castello Ugento for 4 nights 5-8 September. We received an email on 3rd September claiming the hotel had had an electrical problem and had to close and cancel our reservation. They promised to refund our card with the advance payment made but have not done so after 1 month. They have also stopped responding to emails. Either a case of appalling customer service, fraud or both. Avoid at all costs.

The hotel is located right in the heart of the old town of Ugento, making it ideal for exploring the city and its surroundings.

Service:
The service was excellent, and the staff were extremely helpful and attentive.

Food & Drinks:
We had dinner at the hotel and the food was outstanding. Breakfast was also very good, with plenty of choice and quality.

Rooms:
The rooms are top-notch and truly unique. Ours was beautifully decorated and very comfortable.

Facilities:
The garden is a wonderful place to relax. A special highlight are the paintings on the ceilings—staff are happy to guide you through them and explain their history. Very impressive.

Summary:
A truly wonderful hotel with exceptional staff who genuinely care for their guests. Grazie mille!

We loved our stay at the Castello di Ugento. They had the most comfortable beds of all the places to stay during our road trip around Puglia, and an absolutely delicious breakfast. I found the staff willing to go above and beyond to make our stay a 10+.

Be ready to relax and/or bring your own fun. The town of Ugento is very charming and very quiet, at least that was our experience. We loved the recommendations they gave us, especially arranging a boat tour of the caves around Sta. Maria de Leuca.

We had an absolutely unforgettable stay at Castello di Ugento! From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel completely at home with their warm hospitality and attention to every detail. The castle itself is stunning — full of history, charm, and breathtaking views of Puglia.

Our room was beautifully decorated and comfortable, and the gardens and common areas are perfect for relaxing. The dining experiences were exceptional, from the carefully prepared seasonal menus to the thoughtful presentation and flavors.

Every staff member we encountered went above and beyond to make our stay special, helping us explore the region, arranging activities, and always with a smile.

Attention to this place. They promise you something, then they don't fully give what was expected. And since you pay up front, there is no way to get your money back. They ignore your calls, your emails, and your messages on social network. Please do not give them any money!||We were supposed to have a 5 start cooking class, and they ended up sending us (nobody else) to another masseria, who was supposed to provide the same activity. We ended up with very nice people, but the cooking class was suddenly reduced to rolling already prepared pasta, and filling already prepared pastries. Not what is expected when you pay 300 euros for the cooking class part.||And make sure to tell everyone you know!

I had made a booking and paid a deposit of almost €1,000. After canceling well in advance, I’ve now been waiting more than two months for the promised refund. Despite several polite emails and even a certified legal notice (PEC), there has been no real response – only vague excuses.
This is not what you expect from a so-called five-star hotel. Forcing guests to involve lawyers just to get their own money back is unacceptable. Strongly advise against booking here.

Wir haben eine Anzahlung von €988 geleistet. Die Stornierung wurde vom Hotel bestätigt, doch die Rückerstattung ist auch nach über 2 Monaten nicht erfolgt. Auf 4 E-Mails und sogar auf eine amtliche PEC kam keinerlei Antwort. Für ein Haus, das sich “Luxus” nennt, ist dieses Verhalten skandalös. Wir sind nun gezwungen, Anwälte einzuschalten. Völlig inakzeptabel – eine klare Warnung an alle zukünftigen Gäste.

The hotel canceled our reservation three days prior to our arrival in July leaving us with no hotel. We had to find a hotel on our own and, of course, was more expensive due to the short notice. We had already paid the hotel and they said they would reimburse my husband. Now they stopped replying to our emails and there is no sign of the reimbursement. I've never seen a an upscale hotel act this way.

A deeply disappointing experience. This place may look impressive from the outside, but don’t be fooled — the reality is far from the image they try to project.
The management lacks professionalism and basic consideration for people. The staff is unreliable, and the way things are handled is far below what one should expect from a hotel that claims to be of high standard.
There are many other beautiful places in Puglia that truly care about their guests and deliver the level of service and attention they promise. I would strongly advise looking elsewhere if you’re expecting quality, integrity, and a trustworthy experience.

In één woord geweldige ervaring & ambiance!!! Op de ruïne van oude torens werden we verwend met heerlijke hapjes en fantastische wijnen tijdens de wijnproeverij die we geboekt hadden. Roberta en de sommelier hebben ons verwend met gepassioneerde verhalen en zorgden dat het aan niets ontbrak. |Als kers op de taart heeft de kasteelheer zelf ons rondgeleid in het met zorg en liefde gerestaureerde kasteel en tuinen. Echt bewonderenswaardig en fantastische ervaring!!!

Wij hebben helaas niet overnacht in dit kasteel, maar een fantastische wijnproeverij gehad! In één woord geweldig van binnenkomst totdat de poort weer achter je dicht valt, maar eigenlijk ook nog de weg terug naar ons hotel, want wat hebben we genoten!!! Onze gastvrouw Roberta en de sommelier (excuus maar naam even kwijt) waren het perfecte team om ons een onvergetelijke avond te geven! Heerlijk eten, prachtige wijnen met zorg en liefde gekozen. En als toetje een privé rondleiding door het kasteel door de kasteelheer zelf, onwijs interessant en zo bewonderenswaardig gerestaureerd!!! We zouden dit elke dag wel willen doen tijdens onze vakantie!!!!
