Une expérience incroyable dans un cadre magique. Nous avons fait un voyage entre amis et avons loué 3 des 4 appartements du château. Nous avons tous entre 25-35 ans et ce fut réellement des vacances hors du commun. Un lieu dont l'histoire romanesque est clairement et soigneusement maintenu par les propriétaires. Le vignoble et les oliviers, en plus des sentiers magnifiques, de la piscine et des étoiles la nuit, encadrent le tout et font rêver. Le vin, et sa conception naturelle et bienveillante, est un délice - il faut absolument le savourer, et je recommande chaudement de réserver une dégustation avec Charlotte. Nous sommes tous tombé sous le charme! Charlotte et Alexander sont d'excellents hôtes et ont été très flexibles pour accommoder notre groupe. 15/10.

Un luogo affascinante, ma con ampi margini di miglioramento.|Il Castello di Potentino è senza dubbio un luogo suggestivo e affascinante, immerso in un’atmosfera d’altri tempi. Tuttavia, in rapporto al prezzo pagato (paragonabile a un hotel 4 stelle), l’esperienza complessiva non è risultata all’altezza delle aspettative, soprattutto per la carenza di servizi essenziali.|Comprendiamo e apprezziamo l’intento di mantenere intatto il carattere medievale del castello, motivo per cui possiamo anche accettare l’assenza di climatizzazione, TV e frigobar nelle camere. Tuttavia, sarebbe stato molto utile essere informati con maggiore chiarezza prima del soggiorno, magari attraverso una breve presentazione all'arrivo o una visita guidata che raccontasse la storia e lo spirito del luogo. Questo avrebbe permesso di comprendere e accogliere meglio lo stile spartano della struttura.|Anche la colazione andrebbe ripensata: la cucina d’epoca è splendida, ma l’offerta molto scarna (qualche biscotto, una bottiglia di latte, caffè in cialde, un po’ di pane) non è sufficiente, soprattutto considerando che ci troviamo in Toscana, terra di eccellenze gastronomiche. Nessun membro dello staff era presente e tutto è lasciato al “fai da te”, il che rende l’esperienza molto diversa da quella che ci si aspetterebbe da un soggiorno di questo livello.|Il secondo giorno del soggiorno la stanza non è stata rassettata.|Gli esterni, pur belli, potrebbero essere valorizzati con un’illuminazione più scenografica e coerente con l’atmosfera del castello, ad esempio con candele o lanterne a olio. Al momento, il rientro serale risulta piuttosto cupo e poco accogliente. Anche l’ingresso delle camere andrebbe rivisto: il grande tavolo coperto da libri e oggetti nascosti sotto teli dà una sensazione di disordine e trascuratezza.|L’accesso alla struttura non è agevole, soprattutto con valigie pesanti, il che è coerente con l'ambiente castellano. È disponibile una carriola elettrica per il trasporto bagagli, ma va usata in autonomia, senza alcuna assistenza.|Infine, la piscina: il contesto in cui è inserita è molto bello e panoramico, ma le foto sul sito sono decisamente più invitanti della realtà. Il sentiero per raggiungerla sarebbe più fruibile con qualche accorgimento in più, come della breccia o una sistemazione del percorso.|In sintesi, il castello ha un potenziale enorme, ma al momento non viene sfruttato appieno. Non sarebbe un problema se questo stile fosse dichiarato in modo più trasparente, magari attraverso il sito, in modo che l’ospite sappia esattamente cosa aspettarsi e possa scegliere consapevolmente.

Supposedly you can buy wine and olive oil here but we where met by this sign ( picture) we rang the bell several times but no one answered. Also they don't pick up the phone. The dogs did come but they are adorable.
Not worth the drive.

A wonderful stay all round. We were there in Autumn, late November and the colourful landscape was the perfect setting for our long weekend in this truly unique castle. During the day we cooked and went for walks around the olive trees and vineyards. A simply magical setting. The castle itself is a stunning building both inside and out. The interior is carefully designed, stylish, warm and inviting. Charlotte is an amazing and welcoming host. Both she and her amazing team have enormous pride in what they do, and generosity to match - a rare thing these days!

We had wine from the Potentino vineyards with every meal, the Lyncurio, Pinot Noir Rosé was a favourite, as were the two Alicante wines (red & rosé). If you have the chance, ask about the story of the wines and the rich diversity of the Seggiano valley which makes them so special. The honey at breakfast too. We joined the Cucina Povera weekend - true foodie heaven - and learnt much about making cheese, bread, wine and shared tips + recipes from amazing chefs and food lovers.

We loved staying at the castle, enjoyed every moment and can't wait for our next visit!

This is a real castle and a working organic farm producing (very expensive) excellent artisan style olive oil and single grape variety wines. It is a historic restored building but it is not a hotel. As the castle’s own website says, the experience is rustic. There are steep stairs so not suitable if you have mobility issues and the self-service breakfast was disappointing. || But if you have the right expectations you will enjoy. The people are friendly. The grounds are beautiful and the scenery is stunning.

We stayed three wonderful days at Potentino on a trip with friends. Charlotte was a delightful hostess who not only runs the place inclusive of its vineyards and other produce but is just as efficient in tendering to every guest’s whim. The castle is itself a gem of a place in a beautiful region of Tuscany and provided us with a perfect place to make a base to learn the nearby towns following Charlotte’s recommendations on local cuisine and sights. It is the kind of place where one wishes to become a regular guest and we hope to achieve that!

Siamo stati mio marito ed io al castello di Potentino per l'evento Morellino classica 2024 per il concerto acustico della artista turca Hatice Dogan Sevinc un concerto immerso nella natura dove il paesaggio romantico faceva da cornice...prima del concerto c'è stato un piccolo buffet di apertura molto gradito con prodotti tipici toscani la ricotta e il salame fantastici... accompagnati dal buon vino locale un rosso intenso e caldo che ingentiliva l'armonia del concerto. La serata con un pieno di cultura accompagnato dallo strumento kemenche e la voce armoniosa dell'artista ha fatto scoprire un mondo lontano di ricordi ricchi di vita. Serata stupenda.

Posto da fiaba. Un vero e proprio castello con oggetti antichi e stile medievale.|Molto particolare .Presente anche una piscina sopra i vigneti . La proprietaria molto gentile. Ci sono anche dei cani di proprietà dei castellani. Ambiente molto suggestivo.

Premetto che abbiamo utilizzato un cofanetto Smartbox per soggiornarvi . Premetto anche che il cofanetto è da 189€ però. |Siamo stati allocati in una delle dependance all’esterno del Castello. Pulizia lasciata molto a desiderare , trovati capelli in terra . Andati alla ricerca di shampoo e bagnoschiuma non presenti in bagno. Per bere ci è stato detto di rifornirci di acqua corrente riempiendo le bottiglie perché “ qui l’acqua è buonissima “.|Cena non inclusa, ci è stato detto dalla proprietaria che non era possibile cenare nonostante ovviamente fosse possibile farlo , nemmeno pagando. |Colazione fai da te , dai cui allego foto con cornetti e yogurt by supermarket. |Location bellissima, struttura a mio parere da rivedere almeno per quanto riguarda i ns alloggi . Prezzo per quanto pagato assolutamente eccessivo |Diciamo che ci siamo sentiti discriminati, ma questo spero e mi auguro sia successo solo perché ci siamo presentati con lo Smarbox . Di certo non alla altezza del trattamento riservatoci

The castle is absolutely breathtaking. Is truly an amazing experience. One I will never forget.

The rooms are nice. We loved our private library and view in the princess suite. Do be aware there is no air conditioning, but we found the room stayed mostly cool enough in May. Breakfast was simple but good, it’s self serve.

There were a couple logistics issues during our booking, however, Alexander and Charlotte were super responsive over email and whats app. I never had any concerns as they were so helpful with everything.

We stayed here for four nights with a group learning about Renaissance history and philosophy. (The program was presented by an outside group.) This is a wonderful place to stay. The rooms were comfortable and the bathrooms modern and beautiful. Every day we went out to see medieval towns and Tuscan scenery. But the castle grounds are gorgeous as well, with vineyards, olive orchards and a rushing stream. It dates back to 1024 but there is evidence that the Etruscans first inhabited the location because of the fertile soil. All 4 nights we had a local chef prepare a dinner for us with "farm-to-table" ingredients which was so delicious. The castle also has wine and olive oil made from their own produce. I am not a wine drinker, but friends who were with me said that they were very good. The olive oil was good, too. Breakfast for us was "make-you-own" fare with cereals, eggs, fruits and breads.|For a taste of the really old days, make a reservation here.

Being at Potentino allowed me to listen to my thoughts again for the first time in years. It's hard to describe in words but once you are there, there is a feeling you are in a parallel reality. They do have great Wi-Fi connection but one will barely use it, there is no need for that as you start enjoying the peace and tranquility from the first moment you are there.
The castle facilities are astounding, the surrounding areas are better than anything you might have seen in the movies, truly. The staff there is very, very kind, and you will try the most delicious wines, honey, and olive oil of your life, all produced by them.
I would definitively go back - actually, I'd move and live there, working for food and a roof only, if I could - or if they'd take me ;)

= viaggio spazio-temporale tra storia e terra.
Ho partecipato in loco alla degustazione dei vini della tenuta e posso solo dire che:
- il castello ti catapultata in un altro secolo, bello e maestoso si vanta di una vista mozzafiato, una volta dentro sembra quasi che il tempo si sia fermato.
- la vigna è tenuta come un gioiellino, le viti crescono vigorose in un territorio unico.
- i vini rispecchiano a pieno il terroir e l'amore e l'impegno con cui vengono fatti.
Un'esperienza che coinvolge a 360°, siamo state guidate in un viaggio che va dalla storia del castello alla trasformazione territoriale nel tempo, dalla vigna e le prime barbatelle alle bottiglie così diverse tra di loro in un unico territorio.

Fantastic castle stay in the heart of Tuscany. Amazing and welcoming host. Stayed in the huge family apartment at the rear of the castle—with cozy beds, fantastic water pressure and delicious farm-fresh eggs we cooked in the kitchenette in the morning. Arranged for wine tasting and cheese making class ahead of time for when we were there -both were fantastic —low key and family-friendly. Enjoyed walking the grounds and discovering their Etruscan wine-making stone. A perfect relaxing stopover escape on our drive from rome to Florence to experience the heart of Tuscany.

If you hanker after a truly unique and immersive experience of the Tuscan countryside at its secret best, the sights, the sounds and the smells of Castello di Potentino will transport you to a world apart. As a guest of this castle surrounded by olive groves and vineyards - even for a short while - you cannot help but feel part of the natural landscape and sense the rhythms of an agricultural tradition going back thousands of years. Cupped in an astonishingly fertile valley, the Castello is a beguilingly refurbished medieval dream of a home and hotel combination, where every sumptuous room has a sweeping view of the surrounding country, and just about every mouthful you consume is organically grown or created within 200m of where you stand. The elegantly simple pool, atop its vine wreathed hill, has one of the most beautiful settings I have ever seen. ||||We stayed in the self-catering Granary suite, which was vast and comfortable and charming, and (to my great delight) lined with ceiling-high bookshelves crammed with an array of books on subjects and genres so diverse and varied that I had sometimes to tear myself away from them.||||If you are expecting uniformed luggage porters and 24hr room service, Castello di Potentino is not for you. Come instead to drink the wine, breathe the air, experience the Tuscan countryside, and just let the magic happen.

Just back from a glorious stay at Potentino - we were there for 4 nights to undertake a WSET level 1 wine course run by the very lovely and knowledgeable Emily O’Hare and we really had such a wonderful stay. The castle has been sympathetically restored and our large room was extremely comfortable with en suite facilities. As other reviewers have said- you don’t get ‘served’ at all which is great- beds are made but you make your own breakfast with fresh bread, eggs, sheeps yoghurt & fruit ...our package included daily early morning yoga then 2 hours of wine instruction and tasting which provided a brilliant structure to the day as unless you have a car then you are limited to walks or a bracing swim in the (very nice) pool, or reading etc- all of which are wonderful ways to while away your day of course especially in such beautiful surroundings. All the castle guests and staff met at 1 for lunch on the open terrace and shared simple meals of soups, salads, bread, cheese etc. with wine of course! The WSET programme includes excursions in the afternoons which we enjoyed thoroughly- before further activities laid on each evening- these really were the things memories are made of- long dinners (completely informal/ I massively overpacked ) in the dining hall with all the crazy assortment of guests and staff, a wonderful visit to a neighbouring winery with the most amazing wines, food and storytelling by our host, a Tuscan butchery demonstration followed by a barbecue, and culminating in the most memorable visit to a nearby Michelin starred restaurant for cooking demonstration and dinner. Utterly fabulous. Charlotte Horton, a winemaker who owns the castle is a force of nature, thoroughly interesting and learned and a terrific host. Throughout our stay we felt like there really was a spirit of generosity amid a shared love of the wines. We returned relaxed and looking forward to maybe taking on level 2. If you like good wine and simple food in stunning scenery with interesting company then book away...

The beautifully restored Castello is well positioned in a lovely valley, surrounding by its own undulating vineyards. Charlotte and Alexander are kind and full of fascinating stories, and you can eat with them and the other guests around the long table in the courtyard. You are more a guest in someone's home than a paying visitor to a hotel. If you are lucky enough to be there when professional musicians are staying, you wake up to the sound of them practising and the music follows you around the grounds, even as far as the lovely pool. I shall definitely be returning!

Il castello di Potentino é semplicemente splendido. posizione isolata e protetta, in mezzo a vigneti, ulivi e boschi, a pochi minuti dal piccolo borgo di Seggiano. il castello é stato ristrutturato e arredato con gusto antico, creando ambienti curati e suggestivi. Piscina di design in mezzo agli ulivi. Parlando con i proprietari, prima fra tutti Charlotte, veniamo informati anche delle attivitá culturali che hanno luogo nel castello e della loro produzione in loco di vino e olio d'oliva. Non é un ambiente affatto convenzionale, lontano da una struttura alberghiera. La colazione é libera e gestita dagli ospiti. Inoltre si incontrano spesso ragazzi di tutto il mondo che tutte le estati vanno a fare volontariato nei terreni di Charlotte, per fare un'esperienza all'insegna del recupero e del rispetto delle tradizioni del luogo. ||assieme all'arredo "storico" vi sono anche oggetti di design realizzati appositamente per il castello.
