Great place! Started with a fascinating tour of some of the castle rooms, grounds, and wine cellar. Afterwards sat down for a tasting of Oliveto wines along with a delicious lunch spread. Beautiful location and very informative. Highly recommend.

AVOID!!! Castle totally dilapidated, bathroom with sickening sewer smell, Owned by a company not family so cost-cutting is clear priority. Industrial quantity wine of VERY LOW quality, with flies all over the uncovered food. Incredibly RUDE (Luisa!), made us feel ALL was a huge disturbance to her, and she knows ZERO about wine, not even their own labels- couldn't answer even 1 question properly off her poorly memorized script! Did not honor what was reserved until I had to show her own direct text stating it clearly. "Tour" =2 rooms + chapel. Ad stated to make chocolate biscotti but was just plain almond. Not to talk about HORRENDOUS 5 km unpaved road to arrive in middle of nowhere Only bright point was Ludmila in the kitchen. Was given this "experience" as a gift but will tell site to remove them so no others fall for fraud. I can't even imagine how bad a wedding would be there. Luisa should be fired immediately, even staff talks badly about her thinking guests don't understand italian. HORRIBLE!!!

Castelfiorentino FI, Italy. On the seventh day, following breakfast and departure from the Vicchiomaggio castle, we collected full laundry services before proceeding to Castelfiorentino, a comune in Tuscany, Italy, situated between Florence, Pisa, and Siena. The approximate population is 20,000. A highlight of this visit is the opportunity to learn the art of Italian pasta and dessert preparation from master chefs in a rural castle called “Castello di Oliveto”. The Castle of Oliveto is an ancient manor built in the 15th century located in the heart of the Florentine hills. We made a reservation for the Castello di Oliveto Cooking Class. An exclusive three-hour hands-on culinary course, developed in collaboration with the castle chefs (Luisa and Anna), conducted in an intimate setting. Upon our arrival at noon, the castle’s host commenced our four-course cooking lesson, encompassing appetizers, meat ragout ravioli, cacciatora-style chicken, biscotti and tiramisu with custard and cream. While the meal was finishing to cook, the host provided a guided tour of the castle, followed by our self-prepared lunch complemented by the estate’s white wine, Chianti, Super Tuscan, and Vin Santo red wines. Because we prepared this meal, it was the culinary highlight of our trip, prepared with the expert guidance of professional chefs. Bellissima!

Visita al castello e cantine con degustazione, tramite cofanetto Smartbox.
Il posto è molto bello, un posto fuori dal mondo nelle campagne nei pressi di Certaldo e Montespertoli; visitando il castello si respira l'aria e si immagina la vita di allora.
Le visita è stata molto piacevole e il servizio di accompagnamento molto gentile.

Un luogo storico, magico, che suscita nel visitatore immagini suggestive, sapori e profumi intensi proprio come gli ottimi vini che si possono assaggiare. Le sale visitabili, la cappella gentilizia, le cantine, le prigioni e i magnifici giardini rendono idea di quanta storia sia vissuta e passata in 600 anni di vita del castello. Accorrete in tutte le stagioni! È bellissimo!

Als Toskana- und Weinliebhaber hatten wir uns auf den Ausflug zum Castello gefreut. Nach dem Betreten des Anwesens, während der regulären Öffnungszeiten, wurden wir ohne ein Wort der Begrüßung des Grundstücks verwiesen. Eine sehr unhöfliche Mitarbeiterin wies uns durch Gesten zum Ausgang und kontrollierte anschließend, ob wir ihrer „Aufforderung“ auch korrekt Folge geleistet haben. Es bestand zu keinem Zeitpunkt die Möglichkeit ein Wort zu wechseln oder nach einer Weinprobe zu fragen. Traurig, so einen schönen Platz in solch ungastlichen Händen zu sehen.
Keinen Besuch wert, außer man möchte sich unwillkommen fühlen!

Ci siamo recati al castello dopo aver consultato il sito e fatto una ricerca su google per effettuare una veloce gita turistica (come orari di visita era tutto regolarmente accessibile). Al nostro arrivo siamo stati “accolti” da una signora, che con sufficienza ci riferisce di non poterci far visitare il castello. Senza neanche considerarci e neanche conclusa la conversazione, ci ha voltato le spalle e ha risposto al telefono.
Siamo rimasti davvero attoniti e siamo stati costretti a lasciare il castello. È stato un vero peccato, la bellezza del castello nelle mani di una persona così scortese.
Un giorno riproveremo a ritornarci, sperando che la persona che lo gestisce non ci sia più.

Through our hotel we booked a Tuscan cooking class, combined with a tour through the old castle with its interesting history and the wine cellars. We were received by Luisa, who proved to be a wonderful friendly person and a great host. Fortunately for us, another couple had cancelled their booking, so we had a private tour and course. The cooking class was fantastic: Lead by Luisa and her lovely elderly assistant Anna, we prepared five different dishes. After a few hours cooking we were enjoying ourTuscan lunch/early dinner in the courtyard of the castle - which for one day was "our castle". Really very nice, great experience, super value for money, highly recommendable. Thanks to Luisa and Anna for this great experience!

Bellissima esperienza, da rifare. Siamo stati al castello oggi pomeriggio per una visita guidata e degustazione di varie tipologie di vini. Luisa, la nostra guida ci ha fatto sentire a casa. Il castello è meraviglioso, piccolo ed accogliente. Consiglio a tutti una visita al castello!!!

Beautiful place but its potential is totally not used. Wine tasting & tour is disappointing. You’ll see just one ballroom and pope’s bedroom + small cellar. Wines are OK - spumante and vermentino are decent, chianties are very average (bur it’s a matter of taste). Didn’t find nothing exciting about the wine tasting experience itself.

A friend is traveling from the US to Italy and since we loved our experience suggested they do this as well. I realized I hadn't written a review and since it was a highlight of our visit, better late than not at all. Upon arrival we were giving a tour and Luisa could not have been nicer. We loved everything about this day which was a private tour with just me and my husband which I recommend. Since neither of us really care to cook, it was the perfect amount of interaction but not too much effort LOL. We loved being in the kitchen and it was just so fun. Then we were seating is a beautiful room and got to enjoy all the wonderful food that was cooked. So if in the area, I would high suggested doing this as a couple.

Siamo stati in questo castello per una degustazione di vini, la signora che ci ha accolti era davvero molto brava e ci ha spiegato molto sulla storia del castello e sulla loro produzione vitivinicola. Ammetto di non saperne molto di vino, ma tutti quelli che ci ha fatto degustare andavano giù una meraviglia, accompagnati da salumi e un formaggio. Per finire cantucci e vin santo. Davvero un bel posto!

Non poteva esserci giornata migliore per visitare questo castello immerso nelle colline fiorentine, grazie anche alla gentilezza e alla professionalità della signora che organizza gli eventi che ci ha fatto apprezzare la storia e la bellezza degli ambienti. Concludendo con una degustazione di ottimi vini di produzione propria. Ho gradito in modo particolare i rossi più corposi e strutturati. Per chi vuole c'è anche la possibilità di acquistare i vini degustati. Un'occasione comunque per capire quanto sia importante la tradizione vitivinicola Toscana.

la location mi è piaciuta molto anche se le sale del castello che si possono visitare sono poche. Ti dà una certa emozione sapere che vi è stato ospite re Vittorio Emanuele e due papi ai quali l'azienda agricola, ora proprietaria del castello, ha dedicato due vini rossi. Il giardino è davvero incantevole. Ottima la degustazione, al di sopra delle mie aspettative. Affettati, pecorino, bruschette. Degustazione di sei tipi di vino ed in ultimo cantucci con vin santo. Molto disponibile la signora Luisa che ci ha accompagnato in questo percorso.

Un bel castello in posizione incantevole nei colli fiorentini. Le sale disponibili per la visita sono poche, comunque ti trasportano ai tempi che furono quando il castello era ai suoi splendori. Peccato che con circa 50 stanze se ne possono ammirare circa 4/5. Avrebbe molto potenziale poco sfruttato. Le cantine storiche sono molto interessanti seppure adesso sono state sostituite da cantine più grandi e all'avanguardia (non visitabili almeno con la smartbox). Conclusa la breve visita abbiamo potuto degustare vini, vin santo, grappa prodotti dall'azienda agricola del Castello, accompagnati da taglieri di salumi e formaggi e ottima bruschetta con olio della tenuta. Nel complesso sono state 2 ore piacevolissime, con una guida preparata sia per la parte storica che per la parte della degustazione. Il tutto potrebbe essere migliorato magari aumentando il numero di stanze visitabili, inserire la visita alla cantina moderna e vedere in concreto qualche passaggio della produzione del vino. Consigliato lo stesso

Io e mio marito abbiamo visitato il castello la scorsa domenica abbonandovi anche la ricca degustazione di vini e taglieri tipici, tramite un assegno smartbox. |Il posto è bellissimo e panoramico... peccato per la strada di accesso un po' accidentata.|Un salto nel tempo la visita guidata a questo gioiello, forse un po' breve ma assolutamente esauriente... sontuosa la degustazione...|Grazie!

This place is truly special. The property is beautiful with so much history. My wife and I booked a lunch time cooking class and it was one of those magical afternoons we will never forget. We made pasta with local chef Donatella and received a tour of the property by our host, Ilaria who was absolutely amazing. She answered all of our questions, provided information on the property, its history, and led us through a tasting of some amazing wines, including some Super Toscani, along with the food we had cooked earlier.||||If you're in Tuscany, this is an absolute must do! Even if you're there for the wine tasting and a tour of the property.
