I booked Ernesto and Valentina more than a year before my wedding. After booking, I came across many negative reviews from previous brides reporting unprofessional behaviour, such as coordinators bringing their kids to weddings, failing to respond to emails, and nearly ruining their big day.
Because of these reports, I decided to cancel their service 12 months before the wedding and requested a refund of my €600 deposit. Since then, they have refused to return my deposit and started ignoring all my emails. Future brides, please be very cautious and avoid booking Ernesto and Valentina to prevent unnecessary stress.
Don’t recommend at all!
P.S. A quick update from Ernesto, they’re now threatening me with an investigation if I come to Italy. Honestly, it’s laughable. For the record, I never threatened to damage their reputation, I simply said I’d share my experience online to help warn other potential brides.
It’s also worth noting that they requested payment be made to a personal account rather than the official company account, explicitly to avoid tax payments, which makes their current position all the more surprising.
Dear Anastasia,
You signed a detailed and legally valid Day-Of Coordination contract with us in May 2025. As clearly stated, our work would begin two months before your wedding, in April 2026.
No services were yet due when you cancelled even if you asked us to be pro-active. If you wanted us to be pro-active you should have asked for a full planning service as all other couples not a day-of-coordination that starts two months before the event.
As per Article 6 of the contract, your €600 deposit was non-refundable, a standard clause which you agreed to. This is not "unfair" — it is normal industry practice, and fully compliant with Italian civil law. You cancelled your contract because you read negative reviews online — not because of anything we had done. Before cancelling you could have asked for clarifications we would have been more than happy to explain what happened.
This entire dispute leaves us speechless.
We hadn't even started working together — you cancelled more than a year in advance based purely on hearsay and third-party comments. This is a trial by rumor and assumption. There was not time enough to evaluate a service. Again, we should have start the job in April 2026 for a day-of-coordination in June.
We responded to your emails. We did not ignore you, we simply upheld the contract you signed. You even asked us to add the 25th of April 2026 date as starting date of our work in our formal contract (that I'm happy to share with anyone who might ask) and we agreed to add it.
You claim that we asked for payment to a personal account "to avoid tax." This is not true.
You were offered several payment options and you asked for Revolut. We agreed even if we prefer other methods to meet your needs.
An invoice would have been issued at the end of the service. Nothing unlawful occurred. We never told that we wouldn't issue a regular invoice.
As for your statement that we are "threatening" you — we absolutely are not.
If your actions were legitimate, you have nothing to fear.
What we stated is this in our communications: if someone knowingly spreads false, damaging accusations to harm our professional reputation, we will report it to the appropriate authorities, in this case the Italian Postal Police, who handle online defamation.
Nothing personal, just protecting our business.
But if you used your public platform, sites, facebook forums and online reviews as leverage to coerce a refund outside of your contract, then yes — that has consequences.
And, it is not "laughable".
There is no problem for us to discuss this issue in appropriate forums.
If we were truly dishonest or unreliable, we would not still be on the market since 2006, with over 18 years of experience and hundreds of happy couples from around the world.
We genuinely understand that planning a wedding can be stressful, but this level of public hostility and distortion is not acceptable.
We also want to add that this type of review undermines the true value of the review system, which should exist to help couples/clients — not to spread unfounded accusations. We have addressed your claims point by point, and readers could consider the facts.
In the meantime, we will continue to focus on the many couples who have trusted us, trust us today, and will trust us in the future — and since 2006, they are truly many.
BEWARE.
Valentina and Ernesto from Italian Lakes Wedding (also part of Italian Wedding Company) almost ruined our wedding and the joy of the planning process for us.
For context, we hired them to help us with the wedding planning process and the day of the wedding coordination. The location of the wedding was Lake Maggiore and the date of the wedding was end of May 2025. Valentina and Ernesto, owners of Italian Lakes Weddings, claimed to be experts in planning weddings on Italian lakes and expressed familiarity with the region. By the time we contacted them (early May of 2024, contract fully executed mid May 2024), we already secured the venue and the catering service as well as photography and videography. The contract outlined that they will help us find a band, media/audio/lights provider, florist, hair and makeup artist, and help with finding venues for pre-wedding and post wedding events. It also stated that they will help with hotel blocks and guest coordination of transfers and hotel bookings.
What happened:
-Valentina and Ernesto took weeks and week to respond to emails, and failed to respond to a significant portion of the emails.
-We only had one video meeting with Valentina after signing the contract, and, despite outreach, she and Ernesto failed to schedule any more virtual meetings or phone calls with us.
-Multiple of our guests reported that they either did not hear from Ernesto and Valentina or got responses 2-3 weeks later, and after sending multiple emails.
-Valentina and Ernesto failed to notify us about expired hotel blocks which led to loss of the hotel deals.
-They have not assisted us with finding a DJ or band despite multiple attempts at outreach.
-They provided us with one option for MUAH, and, when we requested other options, no response was received.
-Two months before the wedding, we found ourselves not having a post wedding venue chosen or secured.
-Two months before the wedding we also did not have any transportation arranged despite multiple emails sent to Ernesto and Valentina about this since October of 2024.
-As they have not delivered the contractually outlined services, we found a different team of planners and notified Valentina and Ernesto that we will not be using their services, to which they - promptly - responded asking for the remainder of the funds (for the day of coordination).
-Needless to say, this experience has wasted us a lot of time and has been nerve wracking - weddings are such a sentimental matter and truly can be one of the best days of one’s life - and we strongly recommend against using their services.
Dear Daniel
We are very sorry to read your review, which we believe to be both inaccurate and deeply misleading.
Since 2006, we have successfully planned hundreds of destination weddings across the Italian Lakes and beyond, with an impeccable reputation recognized not only on Google, but also on many other platforms such and official website, and by countless professionals but most of all clients who entrusted us with the most important day of their lives.
Regarding your event: as clearly outlined in our contract, you hired us for partial planning and day-of coordination. Most of your vendors and venues were already chosen prior to our involvement.
Throughout the process, every proposal we offered (except florists) band options, and MUAH professionals was either rejected or ignored, as you frequently proceeded independently with bookings, without consulting us.
We repeatedly attempted to schedule calls and follow-ups, but meetings were often missed or postponed on your side, as confirmed also by our vendor who worked with you directly The Flowers Lab. Despite limited collaboration, our concierge specialist Ernesto secured multiple hotel options in Stresa and offered high-level support throughout the months — even when you failed to reply or booked directly online.
We find it deeply unjust and inappropriate to make defamatory statements that imply "a ruined wedding", especially considering that:
Many services were already arranged independently
We received little to no response to our requests for feedback, budget parameters or final decisions
Transfers were never formally requested
Day-of coordination was still scheduled until your unilateral cancellation shortly before the wedding
We take pride in the transparency and professionalism that have defined our work for nearly two decades. For every negative review like this one, we can show dozens of heartfelt thank-you notes, cards, gifts, similes and hugs, published weddings, press features, and real success stories, a testament to the trust so many couples have placed in us.
Our legal team and postal police has already taken note of your statements and we are currently reviewing this matter for defamatory content.
While we fully support freedom of speech, false and damaging claims will not go unanswered.
To future couples reading this: we encourage you to look at our extensive portfolio, client testimonials, and references across multiple verified platforms. Our work speaks for itself, and so do the smiles and gratitude of the couples we've had the honor to serve since 2006.
Sincerely,
Valentina Lombardi & Ernesto Troncarelli

As I read the below comments from another unfortunate customer I can totally empathise.
We had been working with Ernesto for almost a year. This man was supposedly a project manager previous to a wedding planner.
His management skills are next to zero. We struggled to get responses from him when asking for updates on the wedding finalisations etc.
When we arrived at the hotel in stresa. There was no forewarning to the hotel that we had booked 12 rooms so we were treated like 12 separate entities on arrival. The rooms were all over the place with no real structure with people also having to move rooms throughout the stay. My now wife’s excitement slowly diminished on arrival to our room thinking there may have been some form of congratulations when entering. But alas no such sentiment.
On the day of the wedding, Ernesto did not turn up, this meant it was left to me and the celebrant to try to sort out the NON TAXABLE cash payments. He then started to threaten us as we had not pay the full balance and we needed to pay the “captain”. Even though he did not stick to his end of the supposed contract. I rang him in pure rage and asked him to come from Turin to stresa but funnily enough I don’t think he would have wanted to meet me.
To get his money, the “captain” said that money had been redistributed from vendors, which were rightfully owed their money to Ernesto, this left us in a predicament as we didn’t want the photographer not to be paid so we don’t get the memories from our special day.
Also on the day we were given a list of numbers if anything was an issue, surely this should have been Ernesto’s job.
The more I write this the more he seems like a complete crook.
In all honesty when a man turns up for an initial consultation and asks for money for meeting with us this should have rung alarm bells. My naivety got the better of me.
Our day still ended up being the best day our lives but through no fault of Ernesto.
We will be looking to go to the courts as this man has swindled over 2000 euros for doing absolutely jack.
TLDR
Give this crook the widest birth you can. You may as well throw your money into a lake. And in all honesty, it isn’t as hard as you think to get the ball rolling yourselves and speaking directly to vendors.
We started working under contract with Valentina and Ernesto over a year before our wedding on Laggo Maggiore. I expressed my expectations clearly and brought up several times throughout the process that I wanted things done a certain way and I was given completely false hope.
I simply would like to express my grievances and I hope that the next couple will do their due diligence and be aware of what to actually expect if they choose to work with Valentina and Ernesto.
- Overall horrible wedding planners. The only thing they did right was recommend Gabriele, the caterer. He was amazing! Otherwise, I found all other vendors.
- Horrible communication. I would email a list of questions and not hear back for weeks at a time, sometimes months. Total radio silence.
- We asked Ernesto to set up hotel blocks around a year before the wedding. Although he said he was working on it, he never did so. I emailed the hotels myself after months of waiting on Ernesto. They responded immediately and were extremely helpful and responsive. By the time I reached out however, the hotels we wanted were fully booked.
- We asked for quotes for transportation to and from the venue. Ernesto would respond weeks later with a number instead of presenting all options at once so there was a lot of unnecessary back and forth. We still did not have transport for the guests and bride and groom until the week before the wedding.
- Horrible execution on the wedding weekend. Ernesto was at the wedding and did not know what was going on. The bridesmaids and I and the photographers were directing the wedding, DJ, and caterer. He stood around eating and taking photos of his son who he brought to the wedding.
- I am the one who put together the wedding weekend timeline. I believe this is typically the planner, Valentina's, responsibility. She copied my timeline and sent to vendors.
- Neither planner was at the rehearsal and Valentina was not at the actual wedding, which I did not know until I explicitly asked a few days leading up to the wedding.
- I told Ernesto I wanted vendor payments handled prior to the wedding day. I requested he have a list of balances to vendors confirmed so we could arrange payment prior or he would be responsible for distributing the money day of. He ignored this and came to me during the wedding telling me to pay several vendors.
- Ernesto came to me during the reception to tell me to clean out the bridal suite. I don't know why he didn't go to my parents or bridesmaids...why is the planner giving the bride to-dos during the wedding? He is supposed to be handling things like this!
- I purchased props for the reception and they were nowhere to be found. I asked where they were and he didn't know. What??
- They claim to specialize in destination weddings but it felt like they had no clue how to plan or execute a wedding. I understand Italian and American weddings are different but if you specialize in destination you should know what American weddings involve and also I was very clear about what I wanted and my expectations throughout. They were not met.
- To state the obvious, walking down the aisle is a huge deal as a bride. I planned on walking down the long skinny lawn at the venue as we discussed for months. There was a little rain two hours before the wedding then it got beautiful and sunny out. There was 100% enough time to move the chairs as we had a small wedding back to the lawn. Instead the aisle I walked down had me walking where the guests and groom could all see me before I got to the top of the aisle...not ideal. Secondly, the aisle was so much shorter maybe 15 feet total. Lastly, there was a table in the middle of the aisle that was for the guestbook during the reception that took up the entire aisle so I had to pick up my dress and walk around it.
Overall the wedding was beautiful but if I were to go back, I would not work with theses two. I planned the majority of the wedding and did not need the added stress that these two failed to mitigate as I would expect a normal planner to do.
Dear Ms. Breuner,
Your feedback has been received and noted. We highly value the confidence you have placed in Valentina, Ernesto, and our team as wedding planners and coordinators. With an impressive track record of successfully executing over 800 weddings, their unwavering dedication to excellence is indisputable.
The recent feedback from our esteemed industry partners—La Palma Hotel, Borroni Transportation, The Flowers Lab, Meeting Banqueting, and Villa Rusconi Clerici—highlighting their profound disappointment due to last minute cancellation or non-payment or delayed payment in clear violation of agreed terms, is both disheartening and alarming. Let it be unequivocally stated that adherence to payment terms is non-negotiable, a fact that was communicated upfront. These collaborations are esteemed, and upholding our end of the bargain is paramount to us.
While we recognize the challenges you faced, we are heartened that your wedding day retained its beauty. Your satisfaction means everything to us, and we are grateful for the privilege of contributing to your special day.
While we appreciate feedback and take all concerns seriously, it is essential to emphasize that adherence to payment terms and commitments is fundamental to our professional standards. In light of recent events, we are compelled to prioritize feedback from those who share our values of respect and integrity in business dealings.
Our dedication to excellence remains unwavering, and we are resolute in upholding our principles in all future engagements.
We will not be addressing the other points raised as they do not align with the truth, and you know it. It is paramount to us that all communication is based on honesty and integrity, principles which were not reflected in your previous correspondence.
We stand firm in our stance that two decades of dedicated work cannot be undermined by a few words. Furthermore, the valid complaints we have received from our vendors must not be disregarded.
Once again, while we value and consider all feedback seriously, it is crucial to reiterate that upholding payment terms and honoring commitments are integral to our professional ethos. Given recent circumstances, our focus will be on addressing concerns from individuals who uphold similar standards of respect and integrity in business practices.
Our commitment to excellence remains steadfast, and we are unwavering in our dedication to upholding these principles in all future interactions.
Henceforth, we will refrain from responding to any further issues.
