We were celebrating mine and my husband's birthday and invited family and friends totaling 24 people. How to begin to explain the beautiful villa and surrounding areas? Gorgeous, serene and relaxing. Marco and the staff were single minded in trying to ensure we had the experience we desired and all expectations were exceeded. We had breakfast and dinner at the villa each morning and this allowed us to anchor our group each morning and evening. Francesca the chef and her staff were beyond amazing. The best decision was allowing Francesca to cook whatever she would for her own family...expectations exceeded!!! We were fortunate that tomatoes were in season and every meal included them as well other vibrant and tasty savory foods and lovely sweet treats. We hiked to the old castle and also took the trails to a quaint village as well exploring the countryside. ||We are honestly ready to do it all again.
Stunning vistas, plenty of room for a group of people. Beds were comfortable, we always had hot water and the heating and fireplace kept us toasty. Beautifully relaxing – we loved every moment of our stay here.
We visited Petrolo for a wine tasting recommended to us. We had an amazing time, the property is beautiful, and Valentina was so kind and knowledgeable and the wines were amazing!
We had a lovely family stay in Bogging villa, staying for a wedding in the area. Although given specific instructions on how to find the villa it could have been better signposted as there is no sign indicating which is the correct villa. The pool was a big hit with the grandchildren, must mention it is 1.5 m deep so nowhere to stand up but lovely nonetheless. The villa was charming, could do with a little tlc but this did not deter from a lovely stay in a very picturesque location. There was ample crockery, space for a large family to eat etc and apart from the pesky mosquitos which could not be avoided we all had a great time. Would definitely recommend for a rural stay and would love to visit again with the family.
We went as an extended family of 9 covering 3 generations and the accommodation was perfect for us. It is comfortable and rustic without being fussy. The pool is lovely. Plus there are amazingly beautiful views across the wine estate and further Tuscany. The host was attentive and efficient. The location is convenient for Siena and Arezzo and s multitude of interesting little towns with good shopping and restaurants.
Everything about this property is perfect! We were a group of 28, ranging in age from 3 to 75, celebrating our 50th anniversary. Our host, Marco, and his staff went above and beyond to make our stay a trip of a lifetime.
The grounds are beautiful and the large outside seating area allowed us to take our meals in a breathtaking setting under the Tuscan sun. Chefs Francesca and Laura prepared three dinners for us. A plated dinner of antipasto, homemade ravioli, pork loin and a decadent chocolate cake to celebrate our anniversary and on two other nights pizza prepared in the wood fired oven. Pizzas kept coming to the table until we surrendered! All were delicious. Francesca and Laura also held a cooking class during which we made fresh pasta, focaccia, and tiramisu. They then cooked what we made and served lunch outside under the oak trees. Marvelous!
It was unseasonably hot for early June so we were all thankful for the pool which was immaculate. Our rental included daily housekeeping which was quietly and unobtrusively carried out. The house was stocked with excellent Petrolo wines, olive oil, and honey. You simply pay for what you use. And use we did as we cooked some of our dinners and partied late into the night.
The location of the villa strikes a nice balance- quietly set among 400 acres of trees and vineyard yet a 15 minute drive to the Bucine train station where you can hop on one of the several trains to Florence. You can also drive to many other Tuscan cities for day trips.
We can’t recommend this villa enough.
Thank you Marco and staff
Sehr schöne und einfach eingerichtetes Appartement. Super gemütlicher Sitzplatz vor dem Haus. Sehr sauberer Pool, wird täglich gereinigt. Ich kann es nur sehr empfehlen. Wir kommen wieder.
Hello Markus! thanks for your nice words and for these lovely drone shots! It was a pleasure to welcome you at our farmhouse. I hope to see you once again! Marco.
“La Costa” is a wonderful house for a perfect holliday. The location is great, in the triangle Siena, Arezzo, Florence. The view from the house is stunning, olivetrees, winefields and the main mansion of Petrolo, producing delicious wines.
The house is comfortable, complete with all the promised equipment.
Marco is a great host, responding very quickly and friendly.
We enjoyed our 2-week stay to the maximum!
Everything at Petrolo was a total dream! The location was breathtaking, situated amongst the Tuscan hillside, overlooking the rolling greenery. The house itself was something out of a fairytale with each room beautifully decorated and purposefully thought out. We had the most amazing time here, and cannot recommend it enough. The staff were kind and helpful, and everything was arranged beautifully and smoothly.
Mya, thank for your nice words, It's been absolutely our pleasure to host you. Your team has been excellent to work with, hope to see you again. Kind Regards, Marco
Do you want to live in a real movie setting, with great food, wine and service. Come here! We stayed for 4 nights as a group of 20 people. They have everything you need for fun an leasure. Pool, tennis court, basketball hoop, ping pong table. Fantastic breakfast and dinners. Thank you so much Petrolo crew, we will miss you!
So kind of you Alexander! We've been delighted to welcome such a nice group! Hope to see you again! Have a lovely journey home.
Petrolo is nothing short of a dream come true. My husband and I had the incredible privilege of getting married at Petrolo in June 2023, and the experience was beyond anything we could have imagined. We stayed in the villa for four unforgettable nights with 26 of our closest friends and family, and every moment was pure perfection.
One of the highlights of our stay was having Petrolo’s chef prepare dinner for us each evening—a decision I can’t recommend enough. Marco worked with us to create a thoughtfully curated menu that our guests are still raving about. The meals were exquisite and added an extra layer of magic to our time there. It’s safe to say none of us will ever forget the enchantment of Petrolo, and we’re already dreaming of the day we can return.
A special shoutout to Marco, who went above and beyond to make our wedding planning seamless. Planning a wedding from the US at a venue we’d never seen in person felt overwhelming at first, but Marco answered every question with care and ensured that every detail was handled to perfection. His dedication and expertise made all the difference, and we can’t thank him enough.
I’m sharing some photos from our time at Petrolo because words simply can’t capture its magic. Whether you’re planning a wedding, a family trip, or a getaway with your closest friends, Petrolo is truly the place where dreams are made.
Thanks Mary for such a great review. It's been a pleasure to welcome you and be part of your celebrations. If you decide to visit Italy again we'd be honored to have you anytime! All the best for a great future toghether. Marco
Stayed at Vigna - great size house, clean and well equipped. Friendly staff and good service! Linen and towels included, some extra if needed. At the end of the season - both for garden and pool, but nice outdoor area for bbq and meals. Nice for walks in the area.
We just spent an incredible long weekend at La Costa at Petrolo, and I can’t recommend it enough! The house is in such a beautiful spot, right in the middle of the Tuscan countryside, surrounded by vineyards and stunning views. It was the perfect place to relax and spend time with friends.
The house was super comfortable for our group of eight; plenty of space and everything we needed for a great stay. We loved spending time out on the terrace for BBQs while enjoying the scenery or cooling off at the pool next to it.
A huge shoutout to Marco, who took amazing care of us. He was always available to help, whether we had questions or needed anything. His local tips and friendly support made the whole experience even better.
And we can't forget to mention Petrolo's wines. Tasting these wines, while surrounded by the vineyards they come from, was a highlight of our stay. Every glass was a perfect reflection of Tuscany’s finest and a clear testament to why Petrolo has gained international recognition for the exceptional quality.
We had an unforgettable time, and are already dreaming about going back!
Thank you Petrolo team!
Luca, thanks for such a nice review. To be good hosts we also need nice guests! Thanks for choosing Petrolo for your holiday escape! I'm looking forward to see you some time again in the future, Marco
The villa was perfect for 10 people, including 2 children. Marco and Mitilda were excellent and helped us make reservations, a wine tasting experience, located Francesca for cooking classes, and a tour of Petrolo tower. The villa is located about an hour from any of the main Tuscan cities and Bucine's train station had trains that could take you anywhere you wanted to go. Our overall experience at Petrolo was excellent and we would go back in a heartbeat!
Spent 5 nights at Petrolo in House Vigna with 9 of my closest friends/family for a 40th birthday girls trip. We had the most magical time and I wish I could do it again every year! Working with Marco to plan our stay was wonderful and he helped to ensure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend requesting private chefs, Francesca & Laura. They truly made our experience at Petrolo magic. From the beautiful birthday dinner on the day we arrived, to breakfasts and bagged lunches every day. We had a guest with Celiac and they went ABOVE AND BEYOND to ensure that she was able to eat all of the amazing foods in Italy while still being gluten free. And if you can, book the cooking class! I really cannot say enough about Francesca and Laura and the time we had with them in that little house making pasta. |Francesca and Marco also were of great help in organizing private transfers to local wineries, Florence and FCO airport. ||If you are looking for a quiet, beautiful place to stay in Tuscany, stay here. The wine from Petrolo is wonderful, the views, the grounds, and even the little town within walking distance are all magical. There is also a pool that we were able to use even though it was the last week of September because we had an unseasonably warm fall. I hope I am lucky enough to go back again someday.
Villa Petrolo is a magical place to spend a holiday with family and friends. The house is a Tuscan dream and the team at Petrolo helpful and welcoming. We loved the tennis court, pool and grounds. Day trips to Florence from a nearby train station and a 40 minute drive for a day in Sienna makes for a full week although it is hard to tear yourself away from the Villa. An introduction to the wines of Petrolo and a history of the Villa was organised by Marco and I highly recommend Francesca who made the most amazing meals for us on our celebration evenings. The walk up through the woods to the watch tower on the hill was rewarded with a spectacular 360 degree view across the surrounding countryside. A very memorable trip.
Villa Petrolo is our new home away from home in Tuscany. There’s too much to say about the level of service, the extraordinary beauty surrounding you, the history included everywhere on the grounds. And, all of it works perfectly due to their amazing team of professionals taking care of us every single day, while also making the Villa and grounds a showplace that is one-of-a-kind in Arezzo (between Florence and Siena). We made a new, larger famiglia with Marco, Laura, Francesca, Juliette, and so many others who took such great care of us everyday. Our family of nearly 40 people (yes, FORTY) stayed at Villa Petrolo and La Costa on the grounds for nearly two weeks. THANK YOU, Marco. THANK YOU, Laura, and THANK YOU, Francesca. We held a wedding vow renewal onsite that none of us will ever forget with an extraordinary wedding feast and traditional Italian wedding cake. We had breakfast every day. Dinner a few nights prepared, including a pasta making extravaganza for the entire group outdoors – on the perfect day, followed by a delicious dinner prepared from our creations. There are not enough stars to recommend highly enough Marco and his team of extraordinary professionals at this magnificent Tuscan Villa, winery, and property. The folks on our trip ranged in age from 3 years old to 82, and this team of professionals grew to know each one of us, and to anticipate our quirks, our concerns, our needs. Marco thought of everything we may need. A local florist shop for a wedding vow renewal bouquet on the day of the event; a charming Gelato Truck to end our festivities on pasta & pizza making day; Villa Petrolo estate wine for the house each day for whomever may want to end the day watching the sun go down in the beautiful Tuscan countryside. By the end of the trip, we had made dear friends. We will never forget you all who took such good care of us – in a place many in our group had never been before. You must call or email them if you are visiting Tuscany. They are the absolute BEST, and you will be glad you did.
We had a wonderful stay at Petrolo with our family. The house was spacious and clean. We really enjoyed cooking in the well- stocked kitchen and eating in the garden. The boys loved the pool. The setting was gorgeous and Marco did a great job of meeting our needs.
Our experience at Petrolo was absolutely amazing! Booking process was very easy, and communication before our stay was fast and efficient. Check in was seamless, and instructions for the Farmhouse were easy to follow. We stayed in Costa, which is an amazing Farmhouse. Very private, with great sized bedrooms. The decor was rustic and authentic. We felt very much at home. We were thrilled that a crib and high chair were available for our baby. We had access to our own pool and incredible view of the villa and surrounding Val D'arno. The local town of Mercatale was only a short walk away, where we were able to get a few staples at the Coop and have a dinner at the local restaurant. Marco helped us set up a cooking lesson with Francesca. It was an incredible experience learning how to cook local cuisine. We also were provided with the opportunity for a wine tasting and tour of the winery. The wines produced at Petrolo are absolutely delicious!
We look forward to returning in the future! Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!
The property is wonderful, it was grape harvesting time so the area was a hive of activity but there is still enormous peace in the farmhouse. The views are fabulous, the pool is excellent and the service was quick and done with style and good sense. Sunrise and sunset magnificent, we saw a wild boar on he grounds, and the house itself has everything you could need. Wifi sturdy enough, showers strong and hot, terraces perfect. We had a meal cooked for us by the property's chefs and it was fabulous, strongly recommended.
